From now on, this empty neglected boring dA journal space will be an official self-promotion section! To share with you my little achievements in the scary non-digital world, where stuff you draw gets printed on actual paper and sold in stores and stuff! The ultimate satisfaction of a digital artist!



Chief magazine is a Belgian Game magazine that has an 'artist's gamebabe pinup' each month, and they asked me to draw a fantasy babe of my own imagination which resulted in this. It was also a nice opportunity to try out the Conceptart.org forums for some serious feedback, which was scary but effective = )



Dutch Aniway magazine asked me for a 5 page manga in full colour, which was a great but exhausting experience. Even though it was just 5 pages, it took my incredible slow skills about 4 months D: Will post the entire thing in English translation here soon. And if you're dutch: go buy issue #12!

My latest short story got published in Dutch comic magazine 'De Lijn' on glossy paper and all! The theme is 'Addiction' and the cool cover is by Patrick Schoenmaker. It looks great, and I'm very very happy they invited me for this project. The magazine will be for sale in comicstores in the Netherlands and Belgium.




Also, dear visitors, readers and watchers: the reason I'm not posting very interesting dA journals anymore is that I'm dumping all my sketches, pictures and other stuff at my livejournal these days.

Back from holiday and already a bit stressing, even though my life's more relaxed than ever. The to do list consists of:

Make a 5page comic for Aniway magazine. I'm thinking: mindless action goodness? In colour! *gulp*
Get a temp job.
STUDY FOR APRIL RE-TRY EXAMS (why isn't that on the top of this list??)
finish free sketches and other promised giftarts etc.
SOMEHOW GET RESEARCH INTERNSHIP ORGANISED. bleh. (i'm already months behind schedule, so what the hell.)

Oh and I decided to return to that model drawing thing for students, because my anatomy skills need a kick in the ass and I got student discount. And for the heck of it, I decided to do a dance class too, because it looked cool when my friend was doing it. You're only young once right?

I just saw this impressive documentary by Aidan Hartley on belgium tv:

Somehow it makes me even more angry than full blown open war. This sneaky, lying, frustrating injustice, and the feeling of being helpless... it makes me wanna study law, get an army of suits and reporters and SUE SOMEBODY. Bizar how in a country that appears so polished and modern, people don't seem to have any rights at all. Would it be the same for richer/more educated/more powerful people?

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg: there's Tibet, the Falun Gong genocide, the torture etc etc etc..(there's a nice list and some links here) I knew a little about these things, but being the ignorant unaware westerling that I am, it took a documentary like this to make me actually feel something about the issue. As always: images do the trick.

Boycotting Beijing 2008 sounds like a nice step, too bad there's so much money going around that a small minority of human right fighters are never going to stop this giant.

Just my thoughts on a much larger and more complex problem than I can imagine.
